Stuffed Pizza Burgers for #BurgerMonth with #GirlCarnivore

It's the BURGER HOP CHALLENGE!! My little had a blast - we built a "Burger Hop" and she hopped her way through the boxes to this little tune. We're challenging YOU to create your own Burger Hop video! Just film a HOP ALONG to the fun tune and submit them here!

This is a very fun burger variation. We have had a blast trying out different burgers the past couple weeks. I LOVE how versatile burgers are!! Pick a flavor profile - and you can absolutely turn it into a burger! We wanted to do a pizza version, and it was really delicious. Packed full of bites of saucy pepperoni and olives, and tucked in with gooey melted cheese. I made homemade tomato buns to serve these on which was a fun addition to the dish! I would definitely make these ones again - we all really enjoyed them.


Stuffed Pizza Burgers adapted from Betty Crocker

Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp Italian Seasoning
1/4 cup chopped pepperoni (about 1 oz)
2 TBS sliced ripe olives
1/2 cup pizza sauce, divided
3 slices mozzarella cheese
3 burger buns, split and toasted
3 leaves lettuce
3 slices of tomato
Optional: sauteed onions and mushrooms

Directions
  1. Combine the ground beef with the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Form into 6 thin patties. 
  2. Combine 1/3 cup of pizza sauce with the sliced olives and chopped pepperoni. 
  3. Lay out three of the patties and divide the sauce / olive / pepperoni mixture between all three, keeping the mixture towards the center of the patties.
  4. Top with the remaining 3 thin patties and gently seal the edges, patting all the way around.
  5. Cook the prepared burgers on a preheated grill or griddler over medium to medium-high heat for about 3-5 minutes per side until cooked all the way through.
  6. Divide the remaining sauce on the tops of the burgers, then cover with cheese and allow cheese to melt.
  7. Serve the prepared burger on a toasted bun with lettuce, tomato, and add your favorite sauce if desired (ketchup, mayonnaise, etc.) Add some sauteed onions and mushrooms if you have them and enjoy them!
