Enter the stir fry! No one says they have to be Asian flavored. Try a garlic butter and steak stir fry, or a shrimp scampi stir fry. Use the stir fry method for something unique."
I love a good stir fry! SO many possibilities in terms of mixing and matching your veggies and proteins, and then choose your flavor profile.
I decided I wanted to to make a beef and broccoli stir fry - Chinese is one of the few things we order for delivery fairly regularly; probably almost once a month! While I often order the same thing, every now and then I get a craving for some beef and broccoli and have to give this classic, richly sauced dish a try. I was excited to make a homemade version, and was pretty happy with how this one came out! A rich, hearty sauce, chock full of hearty bites of beef and tender broccoli served atop a bed of rice to sop up all that flavorful sauce. You can tweak the sauce flavor to your preference - if you're not a huge hoisin fan I'd start with less and then add to taste, it can be pretty potent!
Stir frys are such a great go to for a busy evening - pretty much everything done in one big pot and maybe some rice on the side and voila - dinner is served! Plus you can often prep your veggies, sauce, and meat ahead of time if you know you'll be in a time crunch when it's time to cook.

Simply Easy Stir Fry Recipes:
Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry from Delish
For the marinade
2/3 cup soy sauce
2/3 cup lime juice
4 tsp toasted sesame oil
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 TBS ginger paste
1 TBS minced garlic, jarred
1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1 lb sirloin steak, sliced very thinly against the grain
For the Stir Fry
Marinated sirloin
4 TBS cornstarch, divided
3 TBS oil, divided
2 TBS sesame seeds, divided
1 TBS minced garlic (jarred)
Pinch kosher salt
2 large heads broccoli, cut into florets
2 cups chicken broth (1 14-oz can)
3 TBS hoisin sauce
Directions
- Combine all marinade ingredients (except steak) in a medium sized bowl, or 4-cup measurer. Add in the sliced sirloin once marinade is well combined. Press to submerge and set aside for at least 20-30 minutes (can place in the refrigerator).
- This is a great time to put on a pot of Instant Pot Brown Rice to cook!
- Add 3 TBS of cornstarch into a bowl, use a fork to pull the steak out of the marinade and add to the cornstarch, mix the steak to coat well in the cornstarch.
- To the remaining sauce, add the remaining 1 TBS cornstarch and hoisin sauce, mix well and set aside.
- Heat 2 TBS oil in a large nonstick skillet and saute the coated beef (in batches if necessary). Brown well on both sides (about 2-3 minutes per side).
- Remove cooked beef from skillet, and set aside.
- Add remaining oil to the skillet and saute the broccoli, along with 1 TBS sesame seeds, sprinkle of salt, and 1 TBS of minced garlic. Stir until garlic is fragrant and everything begins to brown (just a couple minutes). Pour in the chicken broth and simmer the broccoli until tender (cover the pan if needed).
- Mix one more time, then pour in the sauce into the pan, and add the beef back in as well. Stir gently to combine ingredients. Bring to a simmer and allow sauce to thicken.
- Serve beef and broccoli over cooked rice if desired, sprinkled with additional sesame seeds.
