Cam from Culinary Adventures with Camilla said: "January is National Hot Tea Month. Let's share recipes for tea drinks, something you would serve at a tea party, or anything that uses hot tea for cooking (tea-poached fish, anyone?!). This topic is wide open! Be creative."

This tea is one we picked up at the 2019 Highland Games at Stone Mountain Park - oh I hope they get to come back this fall so we can visit again! What a fun event to spend a day or two at!

I love this tea - it's a hearty and rich black tea, but with a dish like this you can use any flavor of tea that you'd like! I think fruity teas would be wonderful with oatmeal. This lets you drink your tea and eat your oatmeal all at one time - and as usual there are so many ways to mix and match and change this recipe idea up to personalize it any way you'd like.

It's hearty, warm, cozy, and is a fun twist on your classic oatmeal!

Tea Infused Creamy Oatmeal

Ingredients
1 cup water
1 tea bag (black tea)
1/2 cup old fashioned oats
1/2 - 1 TBS brown sugar (to taste)
dash salt

Directions
  1. In a small saucepan, bring the water and tea bag to a low simmer. Turn off heat and allow tea bag to steep for a minute or two. Wring out the bag and discard.
  2. Bring the tea to a low boil, and add in the oats, stirring occasionally until oats have softened and absorbed the liquid (about 5 minutes).
  3. Stir in the dash of salt and brown sugar (or regular sugar if preferred) to taste.
  4. Serve warm.
  5. Optional, stir in a little cream or milk, or some berries and / or nuts if desired.

  3. I have never made oats and tea combined. I make my masala chai every morning and most of my breakfasts are oats. It's kind of 2-in-1. Definitely going to make it! Wonderful and delicious breakfast!

  4. What a great idea Rebekah. I have some strawberry tea that might work well.
