14dp3dt BETA Update!! :)

I meant to post last night, and got busy as soon as I got home cleaning and cooking and getting ready to have company over for dinner! An IM (Intended Mother) I'd connected with through her blog as well as on SMO was coming to town for their transfer with their surrogate and needed somewhere to hang out for a couple hours to kill time while waiting for their surro to get back in town from a trip. I invited them to come over and have dinner with us (love any excuse to cook for people and I was so excited to get to meet Tonya in person!) So I fixed up some biscuits (which I overcooked, dang it!), made some Crash Hot Potatoes, honey glazed carrots and grilled some steaks. I made a pan of brownies too, but we never really got around to those since we were all stuffed from dinner!!

In any event! :D Back to the beta news!!

So, 12dp3dt was 605, and yesterday at 14dp3dt our number was 1183! Doubling time is 2.1 days (well within the 48-73 hour range) and the clinic was very happy with that. We have one more beta next Tuesday and then ultrasound in about 2 weeks - looking like it will be the afternoon of August 4th so both Chad and Jenn can be there! Yay! :D I cannot wait to see what's going on and if we'll see one heartbeat or two! Trying not to obsess about it too much, just have to hope the days pass quickly and uneventfully between now and then. :)

For comparison, again, here are the "Master Beta" Thread numbers from other surrogates who had blood draws at the same point in their pregnancy. We're still at the VERY top range for singletons and right in the top half for twins too...

Today we are 4w3d pregnant - here is the BabyCenter info for what's going on this week!

How your baby's growing:

This week marks the beginning of the embryonic period. From now until 10 weeks, all of your baby's organs will begin to develop and some will even begin to function. As a result, this is the time when she'll be most vulnerable to anything that might interfere with her development.

Right now your baby is an embryo the size of a poppy seed, consisting of two layers: the epiblast and the hypoblast, from which all of her organs and body parts will develop.

The primitive placenta is also made up of two layers at this point. Its cells are tunneling into the lining of your uterus, creating spaces for your blood to flow so that the developed placenta will be able to provide nutrients and oxygen to your growing baby when it starts to function at the end of this week.

Also present now are the amniotic sac, which will house your baby; the amniotic fluid, which will cushion her as she grows; and the yolk sac, which produces your baby's red blood cells and helps deliver nutrients to her until the placenta has developed and is ready to take over this duty.

See what's going on in your uterus this week. (Or see what fraternal twins look like in the womb this week.)

  3. Thank you Tonya!! :D We can't wait either! And I'm so glad y'all enjoyed dinner - those potatoes are super easy to make; they're the "Crash Hot Potatoes" from Pioneer Woman. They even reheat pretty well! :D I am thinking of little Mo tonight and hoping they're dividing like crazy and getting cozy!!
