Orange Matcha Smoothie


I recently received a package of matcha green tea powder from Enzo and was excited to use it in this recipe - matcha green tea powder is a powerhouse, improving your energy, memory, and focus (all things I seriously need lately).  Enzo 100% organic Matcha Tea contains polyphenol EGCG, a well-known formula to increase metabolism and helps you to burn fat faster. Matcha poweder is also a powerful antioxidant and natural detoxifier. This stuff is packed full of some pretty amazing things. Matcha is easy to incorporate into everything from beverages (like this delicious smoothie, or this one) to baked goods (see my yummy green tea cupcakes here).


I really, really liked this smoothie and have made it a couple times now. The base recipe below was delicious and refreshing, with a touch of orange from the concentrate complementing the delicious matcha green tea flavor. It was icy and refreshing, and energizing. It is a great base if you want more flavor though - feel free to add any complimentary fruits you want (a banana, some fresh strawberries, diced mango, etc.) You can definitely mix this one up however you prefer it. This is a great afternoon "boost" or a terrific way to start the day!

Orange Matcha Smoothie, adapted from on AllRecipes

Ingredients
1 cup ice cubes, or as desired
1 cup water
1 - 2 TBS orange juice concentrate (to taste)
1 ripe banana
1/2 teaspoon matcha green tea powder, or more to taste
Optional fruit additions: strawberries, mango, pineapple, etc.

Directions
  1.  Blend ice cubes, water, OJ concentrate, banana, and matcha powder together in a blender until smooth.
