Our Pregnancy: 25 Week Check In
This past Sunday marked week 25 for us and our little "ABT" (Alien, Bunny, Troublemaker). Things are going well; baby seems to be growing and moving, and I'm feeling pretty good most of the time. Baby seems to change position CONSTANTLY. Sometimes she literally kicks my butt, way down low and to the back, other times she's kicking up high, then it's in my ribs, then it's something on each side of my belly across the middle - I call that one the Super Man. I imagine she's in there in the "flying" position hitting one side with her little feet, and one side with her little hands! :)
Unfortunately, almost 3 weeks ago, I came down with some sort of stomach issue after eating steak and actually ended up in the hospital for blood work and tests because the pain got so severe. That lasted about 2 1/2 weeks and this past Monday was the first day in a long time I woke up without some abdominal discomfort. I had gotten to the point where I couldn't even drink water, or move, without abdominal pain that had me in tears several times. My boys and I spent about 6 hours at the Midtown Emory hospital where they sent me up to L and D, confirmed that little Miss was comfy, cozy, and doing fine, then proceeded to run labs and perform an ultrasound on my gallbladder, kidneys, pancreas, etc. looking for anything major. They couldn't find anything obviously wrong so they gave me a "GI Cocktail" which included liquid lidocaine and after that kicked in I was feeling much more comfortable. Everything was still sore and crampy, but not nearly as bad as it had been. It's been a very slow recovery, and I've been taking it easy with my diet and am VERY thankful to be back to normal again!
Plans for the baby shower are well underway, and I can't wait to celebrate our little one's anticipated arrival with family and friends. I've had so much fun registering for her bedding set, and all the little things we might need or want for her first year or so. I am sure I got way too carried away at Target, but it was fun! :) Kenneth and I still haven't gotten the nursery room cleared out or picked up a crib set, but it's on my list and I keep thinking THIS is going to be the weekend we get it done... I had 30 weeks in my head as the "cut-off" that I really needed to have the bare bones in place by, and that is coming up fast - really just 4 weeks away! Only 12 more weeks, more or less, until this little one makes her grand appearance!! The time is going to fly by...
I'm hoping to get to one of those quick peak 3-D ultrasound places this weekend to make sure we really are having a girl - we have so much cute PINK stuff on our registry, I keep having the nagging thought in the back of my head that it wouldn't hurt to just MAKE SURE before the shower happens... plus I would love a "for fun" ultrasound that my hubby and son can be there for too, to see the baby again.
No new real cravings to speak of, every now and then I still want some Dunkin Decaf coffee and a glazed donut but have been making an effort to stay away from fast food lately, especially while my stomach is healing so I haven't had all that much "junk" lately. I did have a craving for a fresh, hot baked pretzel when Kenneth and I were out for an overnight last weekend celebrating our 15th anniversary, so we made sure to get one as an appetizer when we went out for dinner! Yumm! I can't believe we've been married for 15 years now... the time has passed so quickly, and we have shared SO much together over the years! And my 32nd birthday just came and went on the 12th! June is a big "event" month with our anniversary, my birthday, and Father's Day too.
I got Kenneth something that he's had on his wish list awhile now for his gift, and I'm sure we'll cook a nice steak dinner for him for Daddy's Day. Hopefully we'll have good grilling weather!
