Turkey Apple Brie Paninis

If you happen to find yourself with a chunk of brie that's not spoken for - give this delicious sandwich a try soon! I adore the combination of apples with the brie, and add in turkey to make the sandwich just a little more substantial and it's simple perfection!

I adore my griddler - and have had one for many many years - it makes pressed sandwiches like this absolutely a breeze. You can certainly use your favorite skillet and cook just like any favorite grilled cheese instead.

Change up the protein to ham if that's what you have, or prefer! Use any flavor of apple. I like the sweetness of gala, but really any apple will do - it will just affect the texture and sweetness when finished!

Turkey Apple Brie Paninis
makes 1 sandwich

Ingredients
2 slices wide pan sourdough bread
4 slices of turkey lunch meat
about 1-oz of brie cheese, cut into thin slices
1/4 of a red apple, in thin slices
about 1 Tablespoon softened butter

Directions

  1. Preheat your griddler over high heat (or a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat).
  2. Spread the softened butter over both slices of bread, then lay the buttered side down on your cutting board. Assemble the sandwich by layering the turkey with the slices of apple, topped with the brie cheese. Top with the other piece of bread, buttered side out.
  3. Place prepared sandwich in the heated griddler and cook for 3 minutes, until golden brown, or in the skillet for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and cheese and apples have softened.
  4. Slice and serve!
